The heat this week, had us craving burgers, burgers and more burgers, so we stocked our fridge with beef chuck, short-rib and brisket to create the ultimate ground beef. It's been a glorious week, to say the least!
But Friday's at the test kitchen always call for pizza! So, with a pound of beef left, and an excess of burger toppings, it's time to pull out our dough and recreate the infamous "Wendy's Jr. Cheeseburger," Baking Steel style.
Taking the time to make our own beef this week, upped our burger game 100%. If you haven't tried this yet, get on it-your tastebuds (and real buds) will thank you! And newsflash...it's going to do the same for our pizza as it did for our burgers. Get ready for "culinary legitness!"

Jr. Cheeseburger Homemade Pizza Recipe
1 pizza dough
1/4 pound ground beef
1/2 onion, diced
2 oz. tomato sauce
2 oz. favorite cheese blend, shredded (we used fontina and muenster)
diced pickle (Vlasic)
2 TBSP special sauce (equal parts, ketchup, mayonnaise and yellow mustard)
1. Preheat oven at 500 F with your Baking Steel on the top rack.
2. Stretch or roll out your dough into a 12 inch round and placed on lightly floured pizza peel.
3. Switch your oven to broil.
4.Distribute tomato sauce over the top. Bring it right to the edge. Place ground beef over the sauce, I made tiny patties. Spread your shredded cheese over the top and then drop on your onions and pickles. Launch onto your Baking Steel.
5.After 2 minutes under the broiler, rotate 180 degree's and switch oven back to bake. Bake for 2 more minutes until desired doneness. Remove.
6.Carefully scatter the chiffonade of lettuce on top. Take a fork and spread the special sauce throughout the top.
7. Slice and serve...
