A couple of weeks back Fresh Chef Craig and I were talking about how much we admired Blue Apron. Blue Apron has pioneered a model that delivers fresh food to your doorstep while cutting out the middle man. Think farm to table, at home. What's even better, each ingredient arrives proportioned exactly to the recipe, so there is literally no waste. I know what you are thinking, it has to be expensive, right?! Only for the rich kids...not at all! Meal plans start at $9.99 per person. And if you are cooking for more than two, the pricing is even better.
Last week we ordered a few meals, just to try it out. We wanted to cook on our new Baking Steel Skinny, and the Vegetable Fritters seemed like a perfect place to start. Impressive packaging and clear, concise recipe instructions put us in a good mood, right off the bat. Add to that the perfectly portioned ingredients and zero food waste, and we were sold.
Before I go any further, I must tell you, that we at Baking Steel have absolutely no affiliation with Blue Apron. They have in no way compensated us to sing their praises. That said, we literally LOVED everything about this service, especially how well these vegetable fritters cooked up on our Skinny Griddle!
While Blue Apron makes your recipe planning and shopping a breeze, you will still need to depend on your own knife and cooking skills, to pull these meals together. So for those of you who love the kitchen, you'll definitely still get your fix. And for those who don't, at least most of the grunt work is done for you and hey, you'll learn a new skill! Blue Apron truly delivers a farm to table-ish culinary experience wrapped up in a convenient, well-thought out, bow. We can't wait to try one of their pizzas on our Baking Steel...
