What is inspiration?

"The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative".

Last week on Facebook, we asked our "friends" for some pizza topping inspiration.  We posed the question, "given a blank canvas, how would you top this pizza?"  We were giving away one of our new, gorgeous, round pizza peels to the winner.  So there was a lot at stake!

Most times, we select our contest winners at random. But inspiration is something I care deeply about, so this time around I wanted to hand select the winner.  I have to say, there were a lot of amazing ideas submitted.  Jeffrey Olson entered with a lobster and truffle oil combination-amazing! Per Boye came at us with a mustard pesto and oysters-boo yah! And, Abbey Campbell chimed in with pesto, red onion and sliced green olives.  Just to name a few.  But Andrew Wheeler had the winning combination.  His spin on a classic Margherita inspired us to cook one off right away!  He started with a classic, no-cook tomato sauce and he replaced fresh Mozzarella with a Burrata Cheese.  His real twist was to finish this off with fresh rosemary.  So, we chopped a little rosemary and topped it just before the bake. I'm not even a huge rosemary person, but this one sounded amazing.  A few fresh basil leaf's finished her off.  Both Fresh Craig and I enjoyed this combination for lunch yesterday.  I hope we did you proud Andrew!
